How to sell Pokémon cards

Video · 1:55 · Published September 21, 2026

A 115-second animated explainer on selling Pokémon cards. There is no single best place to sell, so it walks through the five steps in order, what eBay, TCGplayer, Whatnot and a local shop each cost in 2026, and what the fees add up to over a year.

Transcript

You've got a box of Pokémon cards and no idea where to sell them. There is no single best place. It depends on what you have, and every option takes something: a fee, a cut of the value, or your time. Do it in order and you keep more of what the cards are worth.

Start before you list anything. Sort first: holos, full arts, anything old, anything sealed. Check condition honestly: corners, edges, surface, centering. Price from sold listings, not asking prices. Pick the right place for each pile. And take clean photos, front and back, good light, no glare, then pack it properly: sleeve, top loader, team bag, bubble mailer.

Send each pile where it belongs. Valuable singles and graded cards go to eBay, about 13% a sale. Modern playables go to TCGplayer, about 11%. Sealed product sells live on Whatnot, about 8%. Want cash today? A local shop is quickest, but shops pay below market to resell.

Here is the part most people skip: bulk. It looks worthless, but one missed holo can be worth more than the whole box. And keep records: marketplaces report seller income past certain limits.

Then watch what the fees add up to. $5,000 a month in sales is about $7,800 a year. Your own store costs around 3%. The buyers are yours.

Greedy TCG! Keep more of what you sell.
