How it works

It reads the code, not the picture.

Fill the frame

Line the whole card up inside the box, flat and sharp, with no glare. That is all you have to do.

It reads the number

Every card prints a code somewhere — 215/203, LOB-EN001, OP05-119, GD01-001. The scanner hunts for it wherever that game puts it, then matches it against all 109,000 cards we hold.

You get the numbers

Today's ungraded price, PSA 9 and PSA 10 values, and what you keep after PSA's fee, shipping and the selling cut.

Getting a good read

Get close. The card should fill the box. Far away, the number is too small to read.
Kill the glare. Foil cards bounce light straight back. Tilt the card slightly or move away from the lamp.
Hold still for a second. The scanner takes a few frames and uses the reading it sees most often.
Flat beats angled. Lay the card on a table rather than holding it at an angle.
Sleeved is fine. Penny sleeves and toploaders usually read without trouble. A glossy toploader may need a tilt.
It found several cards? That means the same number was printed more than once — a 1st Edition and an Unlimited, or an alternate art. Pick the one that matches yours.

What you get back

The same numbers as every card page on this site: today's ungraded market price from TCGplayer, PSA 9 and PSA 10 values from PriceCharting where we have trustworthy ones, and the grading verdict after PSA's real fee for that card's value, $5 shipping and a 13% selling fee. Where we do not have a number we trust, we show nothing rather than a wrong one.

Card scanner questions

Do my photos get uploaded anywhere?

No. The camera picture never leaves your phone. The reading happens in your browser, and the only thing that goes anywhere is a lookup of the card number against our price files.

Do I need an app?

No. It runs in your phone's browser. Add this page to your home screen if you want it a tap away.

Why does it ask for the camera?

So it can see the card. Browsers always ask before letting a page use a camera. If you say no, you can still take a photo and use the "Use a photo" button instead.

It read the wrong number.

Usually glare or distance. Get closer and lay the card flat. You can also type the number in by hand on any result screen.

Can it tell me the condition or the grade?

No, and be careful with anything that claims to. A grade depends on centering, corners, edges and surface under magnification. The scanner tells you what the card is worth raw and what it would be worth graded, so you can decide whether it is worth sending in.

Can I scan a whole binder page?

Not yet — one card at a time. If you have a large collection to go through, ask us for a quote and we will do it for you.
